Looking for space in Ditmas Park


I am currently looking for a space in Ditmas Park to hold future Mom/baby Pilates classes. Have an idea for a space? Let me know!
I am also now available for PIlates in your home. You can find a buddy to join you or go for one-on-one training. We can incorporate babies into the mix or focus on just you if you have the time.



Try out this move with your little one!
Place him or her on your shins. Hold on to those little hands and press your lower back into the ground as you deepen your abs and lift your head and upper shoulders off the ground. inhale as you send the baby away from you (slightly straightening you legs) exhale as you bring him/her back in. Fun and exercise for Mom and baby. Make sure to keep you back flat and belly engaged.

1st class in the park a success



Thanks to everyone who made it out to the park on Friday. I was great to meet you and your babies. We had 6 weeks olds on their first trip to the park and one brave mama with twins. The crawling babies were fast friends sharing snacks and toys. Let me know what you thought of the class. How does your body feel?
Levi and I are out in California for a vacation, but don't let that stop you from practing Pilates with your baby. Here is a review of the breathing we worked on in class to practice at home.

Pilates Breathing

Sit with crossed legs and place you hands on your ribs. Imagine your spine as a piece of string being pulled long up to the sky.
Inhale through your nose to fill your lungs with air as your rib cage expands in to your hands.
exhale through your mouth as if you were blowing on a windmill. Notice the ribs deflate.
repeat 5x

Now move your hands to your abdominals and take 5 -10 more breaths.
as you exhale begin to pull the abdominals in and up.
Imagine your waist narrowing with every exhale.

Stand up and walk tall for the rest of your day!

Free Mama/Baby Pilates in the park- take 2

Let's try this again!
I will be teaching a free Mamma/Baby pilates class in Prospect Park on Friday July 30th @ 3pm.
Let's meet at the tot lot near the garfield entrance and then we will find a suitable place for the class from there. Bring a mat (or towel if you don't have a mat) and something for you baby too.
Class is open to all levels, even the "never done pilates before" level.

Introducing Pilates Mama

Hello!
Allow me to introduce myself, I am Christmas, the Pilates Mama. This is the place to check on the status of the Pilates in the Park classes. The free Mama/Baby class scheduled for today was a rain out, in the future you can check here for up to date info on location, times, and if weather threatens, the status of the class.
I also plan to share tidbits about Pilates, and about being a Mama.
